Drag Race Comes to Thailand in 2018!

After nearly ten years, nine seasons, tons of contestants, and two spin-off shows, RuPaul’s Drag Race has grown to become an international cultural phenomenon. For years, international fans have been asking to see the show take the jump overseas, but until now, fans haven’t seen much sign of that happening.

Luckily for those fans, 2018 is looking to be the year all of that changes. Piyarat Kaljareuk, the vice president of film and television production company Katana Group Public Co. Ltd, announced on Instagram that the company would be making their own version of RuPaul’s Drag Race, taking place in Thailand! You can read more about the original story here.

Prior to the official announcement, Piyarat had been hinting at the possibility of the show, while also unveiling a colorful new set on his Instagram, but the announcement was the first official release outside of comments and fan speculation.

Things seem to be looking pretty good so far. The announcement also confirmed the show would be hosted by Thai drag queen Art Arya, but we’re still waiting to see the rest of the cast and judges. While information is still scarce, Kaljareuk’s Instagram page is something that die-hard fans definitely want to keep checking, as he so far hasn’t shied away from sharing new news and updates day-to-day.
