( Post by Carlos Melia ) Unassuming. Fabulous Restaurant. Hidden. Secret. Never a dissapointment. No attitude are the words to define this hidden gem in the heart of Bangkok. Of course, the name can be a bit of a turn off, assuming it will be an over the top pretentious restaurant. And it is indeed, but in the best way possible. From the bar tender to the Darren his owner, they will all make you feel so welcomed and cozy that you will just feel like at the living room of your own home, with the twist of great cocktails, ambiance and fusion dishes. Eat Me, was inspired by the classic of Alice in Wonderland. A cake with “EAT ME” on it causes Alice to grow to such a tremendous size her head hits the ceiling, well in this case, I felt that my tummy was growing to he point of bursting.
Located on Convent Road in Silom, Eat Me is the favorite of all those who really know Bangkok. Not for nothing the New York Times mentioned it as one of things to do in your 36 hs in Bangkok. The way to experience Eat Me is the following… drinks on the lower level, a MUST try is the Passion Fruit Vodka. And them move upstairs, and if weather permits, seat at the outside balcony. My choices for the night, hosted by Molly owner of Baan Suk Jai Bed and Breakfast, were: Warm Goat Cheese Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette and Pistachios (USD 12) and the Crispy Skin Duck Confit with honeyed Brussel Sprouts and Prosciutto (USD 25), a must and specialty of Eat Me. Side dish of Green Leaf Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette.
Great bar, comfortable and cozy indoor/outdoor seating area with professional and friendly staff. A keeper for present and future visits to Bangkok. After this amazing dinner, they also have an wonderful selection of Teas and a very particular way to allow you to choose your favorite, as you can see on the photo below.
