For a busy New Yorker, it’s hard to say that many things impress you. The SO Sofitel Bangkok is one of these things. From the warm hospitality to the countless amenities, there are a plethora of home comforts available to you.
Checking in to the hotel is an experience in itself. You can enjoy an expertly crafted cocktail from the 9th floor’s MIXO in a spacious lounge while waiting for your room to be prepared or as you wait for friends to join you for a night on the town. Here are just a few of my favorite amenities from the SO Sofitel:
Chocolab: Experimental melting is the closest you can get to heaven if you have a sweet tooth, choices range from pastry to cakes and satisfying blended drinks. Most importantly you can enjoy an all you can eat special for only 750 Baht, sign me up!
If you’re craving a bite to eat with a fantastic view, find yourself on the 7th floor’s Red Oven which features a truly gargantuan Molteni stove. The Red Oven is designed as a world market of sorts, boasting con-temporized street market eats, sushi, Robatayaki, fresh seafood as well as salads and dessert stations. Paired with an excellent staff this is the best start to your day.
Bangkok is known for its hot weather, so what better place to cool off than The Water Club, featuring an amazing infinity pool. Feel free to swim laps or take in the impressive Lumpini Park views. If sipping poolside cocktails isn’t your thing, a visit to the Solarium’s Oasis lawn may be in order. You can have a picnic or curl up with a good book and snack to the setting sun.
By far one of the best experiences at the SO Sofitel Bangkok has to be the spa. Themed as a mythological forest, you are instantly captivated by the tranquility that the space projects. There is a fairly large menu of spa treatments that you can enjoy. I chose the Moroccan oil treatment which consists of essential oils and a light touch.
For a taste of exclusivity and a more personalized experience, the Club Signature is the place to be. Perched on the 25th floor, suite guests have complimentary access to a luxurious space inspired by signature designer Christian Lacroix (other guests can access the Club Signature via surcharge). Here you can take advantage of meeting facilities, boardroom, breakfast, snacks, refreshments, evening cocktails and wines.
In my opinion, I would say that the crown jewel of the SO Sofitel Bangkok is the Park Society. This bi-level roof top terrace offers expansive Lumpini park views and the surrounding skyline. On the first level, guests have access to be dined and wined with modern western cuisine. The space then transitions to an open-air terrace where you can enjoy a variety of cocktails under the music filled night sky. Make your way up to the HI-SO via staircase to the highest perch and indulge in a view that would make anyone envious.
With its youthful dynamism and cosmopolitan twist, SO Sofitel appeals to stylish socializers. With all the in-house amenities Sofitel is the elegant answer to a luxury travelers quest for the good things in life.
